It’s time again to look back at the past year, while stepping swiftly into the present. The year included so much beautiful art, community celebrations and improvements at our properties and in our processes. We truly love connecting with our local communities and plan to grow these relationships in 2023.
Adding Art and Beauty to Our Communities
It’s no secret that we love covering our massive storage facility walls with stunning murals as gifts to the local communities we serve. These beautiful works of art represent the communities we call home. In February, we dedicated a mural measuring 90-feet at Security Public Storage Sacramento on Fruitridge Rd, paying tribute to social justice pioneers Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Rosa Parks, Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta.
At the end of April, we dedicated another mural, this time at Security Public Storage Vacaville on Leisure Town Rd. Our Vacaville mural is a beautiful series of eight panels featuring Downtown Vacaville, the Nut Tree, Hume Grove, the Farmers Market, Vacaville Museum, the Founders, Lagoon Valley Park and Travis Air Force Base. This mural measures 1,250-square-foot in all.
Jerry Ragg from Mural Decor finished our newest mural in Vallejo at the end of October and we recently dedicated it to the area’s diverse community.
Consistently Updating Our Properties
One of the many things that set us apart from our competition is the consistent upgrades we make to our more than 50 properties on the West Coast and in the Washington DC area. We believe staying current on security features, maintenance, and always having excellent site managers, is key to why our customers have given us thousands of 5-star reviews. One upgrade we’re proud of is this cool new LED feature we have installed at our Gaithersburg facility. You won’t miss us when visiting your storage unit Security Public Storage Gaithersburg!
On March 30, we celebrated the ribbon cutting on our recently acquired and updated location in City of Industry. To see the transformation from when we first took over in 2021 to now is amazing.
In 2022, both Security Public Storage Vallejo and Security Public Storage Manteca took up the prize for Best Storage Company in reader’s choice polls in their respective local newspapers. Thank you to everyone who continues to vote for SPS in these important, local polls.
Care and Collaboration in Our Communities
Being active and caring members of our communities is very important to us. We love volunteering, hosting food drives, mingling with other businesses at Chamber mixers and, of course, gathering Toys for Tots donations. A few highlights from 2022 include:
- In February, our Santa Rosa location partnered with Redwood Empire Food Bank, collecting dry foods to help local families in need, as well as $400.
- In April, the Security Public Storage Portland staff partnered with Solve, a non-profit that helps clean up trash around the city. Between the two Solve reps, numerous volunteers, and three SPS employees, we were able to get 888 lbs. of trash off the streets!
- In May, some of our team members participated in Red Nose Day 2022, which is an annual campaign supporting programs that address the immediate needs of children in poverty, and foster long-term change.
- Throughout the year, we hosted Chamber of Commerce Mixers and Open House events at many of our locations including: Daly City on Carter Street, Manteca, Riverbank, Santa Rosa and San Mateo.
- In October, our Security Public Storage Pinole team loved going out in the fresh air to cheer on community members and make some new relationships at the Bay Front Run & Festival in Hercules.
Security Public Storage Collects 4,787 Toys in Annual Donation Drive
Security Public Storage participated in the US Marines’ Toys for Tots donation drive for the 25th consecutive year and it was far and away our best year yet! It warms our hearts to see the generosity and caring nature of our team, our customers and our communities. We collected 4,878 toys to help area children enjoy a happy holiday. It was a very happy holiday thanks to your donations and kindness.
Moving Forward with Intention
We’re a few weeks into January and feeling positive about the year ahead. The past several years have been a challenge for all of us. We’re planning on moving forward with the intention to continue growing together within our local communities. You can expect more community, more murals, and more Self Storage with a Difference™ from Security Public Storage in 2023. Thank you for trusting us for your self storage needs year after year.
