Security Public Storage has proudly participated in the annual U.S. Marines’ Toys for Tots donation drive for 23 consecutive years. This year marked the 6th consecutive year that SPS had 100% participation by all 50 of our self-storage facilities and the final toy count is in. During the 2020 drive, our customers, team and community members opened their hearts and we collected 3,087 toys. That is an increase of 939 toys from last year’s final total of 2,148.
Another Record-Breaking Year
This year has been a struggle for everyone. From the ongoing pandemic to wildfires across the West Coast to social unrest, we can collectively say that 2020 was rough. Fortunately, our communities came together in a year that challenged all of us. We could not be more ecstatic to have broken our record for toys collected again! Each of the last several years we have broken the record from the previous year. With many individuals, families and small businesses facing financial hardships in 2020, we are extremely grateful for our customers and their overwhelming generosity.
Many of our sites received large donations from a single donor wanting to do something good. We saw this trend in every region from the West Coast to the Washington DC metropolitan area. Our San Mateo location collected nearly 600 toys in their office! Additionally, a toy store in Roseville donated a large number of toys to our location on Galleria Boulevard. Seeing our communities come together to spread joy, especially during these challenging times, warms our hearts.
This year, we encouraged our customers, staff and local community members to donate at a nearby SPS location. Our donors weren’t held off by the pandemic but rather inspired by the desire to help children who may not otherwise have gifts to open during the holiday season. Several locations received touch-less donations with toys ordered and delivered from Amazon and other online retailers. We participate in this annual toy drive because we believe in the mission of the Toys for Tots program and we love making a difference in our local communities.

We want to extend our deepest and most sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in our Toys for Tots drive this year. We couldn’t have done it without your donations. More children than ever before will receive gifts collected during our toy drive. We appreciate you, our kind and generous customers. Thank you for sharing the holiday spirit and brightening the season for so many families during this extremely challenging year.
